It was William Morris who once said, "Have nothing in your houses that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful."  Wasn't he so wise?

Never make any PURCHASE without first having a PURPOSE.  Before you buy an item, know WHERE it will go in your space and HOW you will use it.

Remember the "one in one out" rule.  If that new pair of shoes is calling your name, think about which pair of shoes you can live without before bringing home your new love.  The same thing applies to all areas of your life (clothing, new books, kids toys, games, etc). 

Before you purchase organizing systems, know WHAT it is you plan to organize.  Keep in mind the kind of systems that will fit your LIFESTYLE.

Think of things to use as organizing tools that may have been created for a totally different purpose.  Kitchen organizers will often work in the office and vice versa.  Don't limit your creativity!  Go beyond the realm of baskets and drawer dividers.  Organizing is fun!  It is YOUR space; make it yours.

Keep in mind that hiring a professional isn't a cop out or a last resort, it is a productive way to relieve your stress and enjoy your home.
